This is a bonded phase octadecyl modified silica gel (C18). The carbon content is 14% and the layer is wettable with water.
The fluorescent indicator is acid resistant and emits a pale blue fluorescence under UV254. UV-absorbing substances appear as dark-blue to black spots on a light-blue background.
The pH stability is in the range 2-10.
The base silica is a 9 micron average particle with a 60 angstrom pore structure.
